Darrell Janzen

Executive Director

Darrell has been involved since he was in high school. Before that, his sisters were involved in YFC club Bible studies which were held at their home in Shafter, CA. Darrell remembers introducing one of his best friends to Jesus after a YFC/Campus Life, lunch meeting. Darrell went on part time staff as a college student in Orange County. He served Kern County Youth for Christ as the Ministry Director, before becoming  Executive Director for a total of 17 years. After a short term farming in Nebraska, Darrell returned to California with Central Coast Youth for Christ in November of 1987.
Darrell spent his freshman year of college at Biola receiving one of the lowest GPAs given to any student in history. As he says, “If only I had signed up for all Bible classes.” It was the English, Math, and Social Study low grades that earned fame. At long Beach State, Darrell completed his study in Automotive Industrial Arts. Having been called to ministry but still lacking under graduate classes he was invited to study at Azusa Pacific College where he completed a major in Psychology and Bible. His Ordination recognition was completed through six pastors from three denominations after written and oral exams.

Darrell and Joanie were married in 1969 and four years later along came their first born, Mitchell, followed by two sisters Denay & Kimberly. Darrell’s wife is an awesome woman of God, raising their children demonstrating and instilling in them informed opportunities of following Christ in their lives.

As a couple, their passion, no, their life’s value, is to reach young people where they live and think with the Good News of Jesus Christ. The “Abundant filled life” according to Joan and Darrell is knowing you have been used by God to draw one lost Youth at a time to be a follower of Jesus.
